Myrtle Beach, SC–Susan White, Founder of Classic Home Building in Myrtle Beach, SC, and President of Classic Interiors, was among those attending the recent Women in Residential Construction meeting/symposium in Scottsdale, Arizona.
The three-day event hosted more than 100 female executives and managers from the leading building and construction companies across the nation and featured creative working sessions focusing on some of today’s top issues and insightful speakers including keynote speaker, Dr. Helen Fisher.
Dr. Fisher, an internationally renowned neuroscientist and biological anthropologist, is a pioneer in the biology of human personality and the neurochemistry of leadership. Named a TED All-Star and one of “the 15 most amazing women in science today” by Business Insider, Dr. Fisher has given the world a new way to look at professional relationships and “corporate chemistry.” Her groundbreaking research has shown how understanding the biology behind personality styles can be used to build teams and corporate boards, advertise, innovate, and succeed at work.
Her discovery of the four basic biological styles of thinking and behaving — Explorer, Builder, Director, and Negotiator — represents the biggest leap in personality tools in the last 100 years.
“This was an amazing conference,” said Susan White. “Dr. Fisher’s presentation brought to light how to recognize and influence personality styles to increase the effectiveness of work flow. There is no doubt that everyone in attendance left with a better understanding of how to improve collaboration, resolve conflict, act as innovators and lead today’s building organizations.”
The annual event is sponsored by NAHB Professional Women in Building, the arm of the building industry dedicated to promoting industry professionalism and supporting members at the local, state and national levels through networking and educational opportunities, legislative awareness and outreach.
